Belong – Part 4: The Power of Belonging

Belong – Part 4: The Power of Belonging

  • Our Faith Helps Others Belong.

Series Key Verse: “Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39 (p.753)

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35 (p.822)

Luke 5:17-25

“’Seeing their faith,’ Jesus said to the man, ‘Young man, your sins are forgiven.’ But the Pharisees and teachers of religious law said to themselves, ‘Who does he think he is? That’s blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!’Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them, ‘Why do you question this in your hearts?’” Luke 5:20-22 (p.785)

“’Is it easier to say “Your sins are forgiven,” or “Stand up and walk?” So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.’ Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!’” Luke 5:23–24 (p.785)

“Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, ‘We have seen amazing things today!’” Luke 5:26 (p.785)

  1. Lead the way in belonging.

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (p.907)

  1. Take others on the journey of belonging.

“The Lord now chose seventy-twoother disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit. These were his instructions to them: ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.’” Luke 10:1-2 (p.792)

  1. Let Jesus work the transformation.
