Going For Gold – Part 3: My Absolute Best

2 Samuel 24:18-25

“All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:25 (p.875)

• Serving God Demands My Absolute Best.

“But the king replied to Araunah, ‘No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the LORD my God that have cost me nothing.’” 2 Samuel 24:24a (p.256)

  1. Evaluate my motives.

“… use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 (p.893)

“The sacrifice of an evil person is detestable, especially when it is offered with wrong motives.” Proverbs 21:27 (p.496)

  1. Consider the cost.

“So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.” 2 Samuel 24:24b (p.256)

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 (p.771)

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” 1 Peter 4:10 (p.936)

My Next Step This Week: I will use my gifts and actively serve on a team at Alive Church.

Series Memory Verse: “Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly.” 1 Timothy 4:7 (p.911)
