Home – Part 1
November 24 – 25, 2018
“’(Jesus) Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. ‘But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.’” Matthew 7:24-27
“’Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.’” John 16:33b
- Storm-proof your home – build it on The Rock.
- Realize the Words of Jesus are important because they are the Words of Jesus!
“When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority—quite unlike their teachers of religious law.” Matthew 7:28-29
“’(Jesus) I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6
- Remember Jesus is The Rock.
“The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.” Psalm 118:22
“For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’” Acts 4:11
- Respond to Jesus as He invites you into a relationship with Him. THEN His teaching can have its intended meaning and power.
“’(Jesus) I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’” John 8:12
“’(Jesus) Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.’” John 15:5
My Next Step This Week: I will ask God every day to help me build my home (life) on The Rock of Jesus.
