Dr. Jeffrey Allen Love
“One day David asked, ‘Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive—anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?’…Ziba replied, ‘Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.’ ‘Where is he?’ the king asked. ‘In Lo-debar…’” 2 Samuel 9:1-4
“His name was Mephibosheth; he was Jonathan’s son and Saul’s grandson.” 2 Samuel 9:6a
- Jesus Gives Me A Seat At The King’s Table.
- Don’t be afraid.
“‘Don’t be afraid!’ David said. ‘I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan.’” 2 Samuel 9:7a
“‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. ‘I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.’” Luke 2:10
- Look only to Jesus.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight.” Romans 3:23-24a
“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.” Ephesians 2:4-5a
- Take your seat at the table.
“And from that time on, Mephibosheth ate regularly at David’s table, like one of the king’s own sons.” 2 Samuel 9:11b
“He (Jesus) took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, ‘This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ After supper he took another cup of wine and said, ‘This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.” Luke 22:19-20
My Next Step: I am taking my seat at the King’s table.
