Joy – Part 4: Christmas Eve

Joy – Part 4: Christmas Eve

Mathew 2

Memory Verse: “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (p.868)

  • Jesus Brings Love.
  1. Open our hearts to accept His love.

“Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, ‘Where is the newborn king of the Jews?’” Matthew 2:1-2a (p.734)

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8 (p.860)

  1. Let go of self-sufficiency.

“And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy!” Matthew 2:9-10 (p.734)

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (p.482)

  1. Reflect His love to others.

“They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11 (p.734)

“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8 (p.943)
