Series Memory Verse: “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Matthew 6:21 (p.737)
- Prepare For God’s Blessing.
- Choose Carefully: You Always Reap What You Sow.
“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.” Galatians 6:7-8 (p.894)
- Be Generous: You Always Reap More Than You Sow.
“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Luke 6:38 (p.786)
- Wait patiently: You Sow in One Season and Reap In Another.
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” Colossians 3:23 (p.904)
“But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.” Romans 8:25 (p.862)

Our One Thing: Prepare For God’s Blessing.
Series Memory Verse: Matthew 6:21 (p.737)
One Voice Bible Story Background: Luke 6:38 – Pressed Down, Shaken Together
- Have you ever sown a seed and watched a plant grow?
- What was your experience like and how did you feel?
- Have you ever heard of sowing and reaping before?
Our teaching focused on three application points:
- You always reap what you sow. (Galatians 6:7-8 (p.894))
- What does this verse say about sowing and reaping?
- Have you ever had someone be mean or rude to you and you couldn’t figure out why? Did you examine how you were sowing into that person?
- If you figured out it was because of you, what happened?
- You always reap more than you sow. (Luke 6:38 (p.786))
- How does the phrase “the amount you give will determine the amount you get back” sit with you?
- Why is it important to know that God will give us more?
- God blesses us so much that we can’t even hold on to all the blessings. Do you think the same is true if we reap things that are not of God?
- You sow in one season and reap in another. (Colossians 3:23 (p.904); Romans 8:25 (p.862))
- If you’ve ever grown a plant from a seed, you know that it takes a long time for it to grow and mature.
- Do you get impatient waiting for results?
- God wants us to learn that results will not happen right away, yet we have to work as though we are working for the Lord to see changes.
- How can you be prepared for God’s blessings?
- Have you ever shared the gospel with someone, and they decided to become a follower of Jesus after a long time? What was your experience like waiting for the harvest?
