Dr. Jeffrey Allen Love
Luke 5:1-11
- We Learn In Rows, We Grow In Circles.
Questions:
What kind of person do I want to be?
What kind of life do I want to live?
How you answer these questions point to your God-given purpose.
“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.’ ‘Master,’ Simon replied, ‘we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.’” Luke 5:4-5
- Grow in obedience.
“And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.” Luke 5:6-7
“‘Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.'” Matthew 7:24
- Grow in relationship.
“When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, ‘Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.’ For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him. His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed.” Luke 5:8-10a
- Grow in the process of spiritual formation.
“’(Jesus)…Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!’ And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.” Luke 5:10b-11
“We will no longer be immature like children…instead we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.” Ephesians 4:14-15
My Next Step: I’m going to step into a circle by joining a Life Group this semester.
