Trading Faces – Part 1: Image Bearer Vs Worthless
John 10:1-21
Series Memory Verse: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (p.884)
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10 (p.819)
- Turn Down The Voice Of Shame And Turn Up The Voice Of The Good Shepherd.
The voice of shame:
- Alienates us from one another.
- Tells me I am what I have done.
- Causes me to hide from myself, others, and God.
“‘I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father.’” John 10:14-15 (p.819)
- Tune into Jesus’ voice.
“‘After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.’” John 10:4 (p.819)
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:26 (p.823)
- Walk in the purpose of who you are.
“‘They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.’” John 10:5 (p.819)
“…for he chose us in advance…God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.” Ephesians 4:11-13 (p.897)
My Next Step This Week: I will be a megaphone for The Good Shepherd by walking away from shame and intentionally speaking words of truth, encouragement, hope, and love.
