What To Do With Fear & Worry – Part 2: Rock Solid

What To Do With Fear & Worry – Part 2: Rock Solid

Rock Solid
What To Do With Fear and Worry – Part 2
March 21-22, 2020
Dr. Jeffrey Allen Love

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Matthew 7:24-27 (p.738)

  • Jesus Helps Me In Times Of Trouble.

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 (p.809)

  1. Hear Jesus’ Words.

“Anyone who listens to my teaching…is wise, but anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish.” Matthew 7:24-26 (p.738)

“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” Romans 10:17 (p.864)

  1. Act on Jesus’ Words.

“Anyone who…follows it (Jesus teaching) is wise, but anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish.” Matthew 7:24-26 (p.738)

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” James 1:22 (p.930)

  1. Allow Jesus’ Words to transform me.

“‘(Jesus)…You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” Matthew 22:37-39 (p.753)

“Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.” Matthew 7:25 (p.738)

“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4 (p.428)

Next Step: _____ I will read the Daily Reading and the Daily Study from the Life Transformation Bible: Obey God. (Page A-32, Day 1-7)

Use this Discussion Guide to dig deeper into the principles from Weekend Talk. Our Life Groups will use them, but we encourage you to discuss them with your family, or over the phone or online with friends.

Yes, our Life Groups continue to meet, ONLINE! Life Groups use these questions to go deeper into what we talked about this weekend. Dig into them so you will be ready for the discussion at your Life Group. Please let us know if you would like to join a group. We are also looking for opportunities to begin NEW ONLINE Groups.

Car Questions/Conversation Starters

  • Have you ever been through a big storm? What happened?
  • In an old war movie that aired recently, the US Marines had to spend enormous firepower to blast through a huge, fortified, bunker. It took hours. Where is the sturdiest and most fortified physical place you’ve ever been?

Quick Review

  • Looking back at your Talk Notes, was there anything you heard in the service that stood out or maybe even confused you?
