Going For Gold – Part 2: Build Each Other Up

Hebrews 10:19 – 39

Connecting Deeply: We pursue a life in community that contributes to a growing relationship with Jesus and others.

Series Memory Verse: “Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly.”  1 Timothy 4:7 (p.911)

  • We Remain Motivated When We Gather And Connect.

“For he said to God, ‘I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.’” Hebrews 2:12 (p.921)

  1. Let us go into the presence of God.

“Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22 (p.926)

We go into God’s presence with 4 characteristics:

  • A sincere heart: evaluate my thoughts and motives according to His Word.
  • Fully trusting Him: Jesus as our great high priest.
  • Sprinkled with Christ’s blood: my sins forgiven.
  • Having our bodies washed with pure water: public sign of forgiveness, Baptism.
  1. Let us hold tightly to our hope.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” Hebrews 10:23 (p.926)

  1. Let us motivate another.

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” Hebrews 10:24 (p.926)

  1. Let us not neglect meeting together.

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25 (p.926)
