Devotional Day 5: The Voice That Calms the Storm

Scripture:
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.” John 16:13 (NLT)

Reflection:
I remember stormy nights when my kids were toddlers, and they would be terrified of the thunder. The only thing that calmed them was my voice, steady and low, assuring them they were safe. The storm didn’t stop immediately, but their fear did, because they trusted my voice as I was speaking to them.

We live in a world of loud, conflicting voices. Social media, news, and our own insecurities constantly clamor for attention, creating an emotional storm within us. This is why we need the Trinity. The Father speaks identity over us (“You are mine”). The Son speaks redemption over us (“You are forgiven”). The Spirit speaks direction to us (“This is the way, walk in it”). God’s voice is the steady anchor in the chaos. He guides us into truth—not just facts, but the deep, soul-settling reality of who He is. When the thunder of life gets loud today, tune your ear to the Spirit. He is speaking peace.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, the world can be so loud at times. Please quiet the noise around me and within me so I can hear Your voice. Guide me into Your truth today, for that is where I find my peace. Amen.
