Devotional Day 11: The Story That Makes Sense of Our Story
Scripture:
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” Romans 15:4 (NLT)
Reflection:
When we’re going through a hard time, it can feel like we are utterly alone in our struggle. No one understands. But then you open the Bible, and you read about David, hiding in a cave and crying out to God in fear. You read about Elijah, exhausted and wanting to give up. You read about Peter, whose greatest failure became a turning point for his faith. Suddenly, you realize you’re not alone at all.
The Bible is filled with the stories of real, flawed people who navigated joy, heartbreak, failure, and victory. Their stories were recorded to teach us, to show us how to endure, and to fill us with hope. By watching how God remained faithful to them in their messy lives, we are encouraged that He will be faithful to us in ours. Your personal story is part of this much larger story of God’s redemption. Scripture provides the context and the hope you need to keep turning the pages of your own life with faith.
Prayer:
God, thank You for the stories in Scripture that remind me I am not alone. Thank You for the encouragement and hope they provide. Help me to find my own story within Your greater story of faithfulness. Amen.
