Devotional Day 14: A Treasure Worth Seeking

Scripture:
“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11 (NLT)

Reflection:
My kids always loved a good treasure hunt. The excitement is in the search, following the clues to find the hidden prize. The Psalmist here speaks of “hiding” God’s word in his heart, as if it were a precious treasure. It’s something to be sought after, cherished, and protected.

This isn’t about just memorizing verses so we can win a Bible trivia game. It’s about storing God’s truth so deeply within us that it becomes our first response in a moment of temptation, our go-to comfort in a moment of fear, and our automatic guide in a moment of decision. When God’s Word is hidden in your heart, the Holy Spirit can bring it to your mind right when you need it most. It becomes an internal compass that keeps you from wandering off course. The effort it takes to seek out and store this treasure is one of the most significant investments you will ever make.

Prayer:
God, I want Your Word to be a treasure in my heart. Help me to value it, to seek it out, and to store it within me. May it guard my steps and keep my heart aligned with Yours. Amen.
