Devotional Day 16: Stepping Off the Treadmill

Scripture:
“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” Romans 3:22 (NLT)

Reflection:
Have you ever felt like life is a treadmill that keeps speeding up? You run harder and faster, trying to be the perfect parent, the perfect spouse, or the perfect Christian, but you never actually get anywhere. You’re exhausted, sweating, and fearful that if you stop running, everything will fall apart. This is what it feels like to live by performance rather than faith.

The beauty of faith in Jesus is that He hit the “stop” button. He took the run for us. We aren’t made right with God by how fast we run or how well we perform; we are made right by placing our trust in the One who already finished the race. When you realize that your standing with God is based on Jesus’ performance, not yours, the pressure lifts. You can breathe. You can step off the treadmill of perfectionism and walk in the freedom of His love.

Reflection Question:
In what area of your life are you still running on the treadmill, trying to prove your worth to God? How would it feel to step off and trust Jesus instead?
