Devotional Day 18: The Gavel Has Fallen

Scripture:
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1 (NLT)

Reflection:
Guilt is a heavy backpack. We carry around the memory of past mistakes, harsh words we spoke, and things we wish we hadn’t done. Even when we ask for forgiveness, we often continue to put ourselves on trial, acting as our own judge and jury, sentencing ourselves to days or years of regret.

But faith in Jesus means the trial is over. Imagine standing in a courtroom, guilty as charged, but the Judge brings the gavel down and declares, “Not guilty.” That is what happened the moment you trusted Jesus. He took the sentence you deserved. “No condemnation” doesn’t mean “a little bit of condemnation” or “probation.” It means none. Zero. When the voice of guilt tries to whisper in your ear today, remind it that the case has been dismissed. You are free.

Prayer:
Jesus, when I feel the weight of guilt, remind me of Your verdict. Thank You that there is no condemnation for me because I am in You. Help me to forgive myself as You have forgiven me. Amen.
