Devotional Day 19: No More “Do,” Only “Done”

Scripture:
“Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law.” Galatians 2:16 (NLT)

Reflection:
Religion is often spelled with two letters: D-O. It’s a list of things you must do to please God. Do this, don’t do that, work harder, try more. It’s an exhausting ladder climb where the top is always out of reach.

But Christianity is spelled with four letters: D-O-N-E. It is about what Jesus has already done. When He cried out, “It is finished” on the cross, He meant it. The work of salvation is complete. There are no more boxes to check to make God love you more. No more rituals are needed to secure your soul. Faith is simply trusting in the finished work of Christ. It is resting in the “Done” rather than striving in the “Do.” When we grasp this, our obedience stops being a way to earn love and starts being a way to say “thank you” for the love we already have.

Reflection Question:
Does your faith feel more like a “Do” list or a “Done” celebration? How can you shift your focus to what Jesus has already accomplished for you today?
