Devotional Day 21: Secure in the Grip
Scripture:
“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me.” John 10:28 (NLT)
Reflection:
When my kids were toddlers, and we would cross a busy street, I didn’t say, “Hey, hold my hand tight.” If their safety depended on their little grip, they’d be in danger the moment they got distracted or tired. Instead, I wrapped my large hand around their small one. Their safety didn’t depend on their grip on me; it depended on my grip on them.
Salvation is the same. We often worry, “Did I believe enough? Is my faith strong enough? What if I mess up?” We act as if our salvation depends on our grip on God. But Jesus gives us a promise that anchors the soul: No one can snatch them away from me. Your salvation is secure not because your faith is perfect, but because His hold on you is permanent. You are saved by faith, yes, but His power keeps you. You can rest today knowing His grip won’t slip.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that You are holding me tighter than I could ever hold You. I rest in the security of Your grip. Thank You for the assurance of eternal life. Amen.
