Devotional Day 25: Better Together
Scripture:
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NLT)
Reflection:
Over the years, I have tried to move heavy furniture by myself at times. It’s always a disaster. Scratching the floor, hurting my back, and not successfully moving the furniture. But the moment a friend steps in to help, what was impossible for me by myself becomes manageable.
Life is heavy. Sorrow, stress, and temptation are too much weight for one person to carry alone. Yet, our culture glorifies independence. We think asking for help is a weakness. God says the opposite: isolation is dangerous. We were created for connection. The church is designed to be that second set of hands lifting the heavy furniture. It’s the late-night text, the shared meal, the prayer when you have no words left. Don’t try to be a spiritual hero on your own. We are better, stronger, and safer together.
Reflection Question:
Is there a burden you are trying to carry alone right now? Who is one person you can invite into that space to help you lift it?
