Devotional Day 26: The Family Table
Scripture:
“So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.” Ephesians 2:19 (NLT)
Reflection:
There is something sacred about a family dinner table. It’s where you belong, where you don’t have to perform, and where there is always a seat for you. Growing up, maybe your table wasn’t safe, or perhaps it was empty. The beauty of the Gospel is that God invites you to a new table.
The church is God’s family. It destroys the labels that usually divide us—ethnicity, status, income, background. In Christ, we are brothers and sisters. This isn’t just a metaphor; it’s a spiritual reality. You are no longer a stranger standing on the porch looking in; you have a key to the house. You are a member of the family. If you’ve been feeling lonely or like an outsider, hear this: You belong here. There is a seat with your name on it.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family. When I feel like an outsider, remind me that I am Your child and a sibling to believers everywhere. Help me to make others feel welcome at Your table. Amen.
