Devotional Day 27: Iron Sharpens Iron

Scripture:
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)

Reflection:
Sharpening a knife isn’t a gentle process. It involves friction, heat, and sparks. Metal grinds against metal to remove the dull edges and create a useful, sharp point.

Real community isn’t always comfortable. It’s easy to surround ourselves with people who agree with us and let us stay stagnant. But godly community involves “sharpening.” It’s the friend who loves you enough to ask the hard question. It’s the mentor who calls out your potential when you’re being lazy. It’s the small group that challenges you to grow. We need that friction to become the people God created us to be. Don’t run from the sparks. Embrace the relationships that challenge you, for they are shaping you into something sharper and more useful for the Kingdom.

Reflection Question:
Do you have people in your life who love you enough to challenge you? Are you open to being “sharpened,” or do you pull away from the friction?
