Better Together – Part 3: Communion
“…Do this to remember me.” Luke 22:19 (p.805)
- Communion Is A Celebration.
- The Lamb (Sacrifice)
- The Bread (Matzah)
- The Cup (Cup of Redemption)
- The Dessert (Afikomen)
- Look back — we remember.
“…Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 (p.809)
“…This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.” Luke 22:19 (p.805)
“This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood…” Luke 22:20 (p.805)
- Look around — we proclaim.
“For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.” 1 Corinthians 11:26 (p.877)
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” Revelation 12:11 (p.956)
- Look ahead — we anticipate.
“Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.” Matthew 26:29 (p.757)
My Next Step This Week: Take communion. On purpose. With your eyes wide open.
Series Memory Verse: “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” Ephesians 1:5 (p.895)
