Cast – Part 3: Servant of All

Mark 9:33-35

Series Memory Verse: “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!” Luke 5:10b (p.785)

  • I Will Serve My One.

Jeff’s Thought: Serving is a path to love; through our acts of kindness, sacrifice, and compassion, we open our hearts and create bonds that transcend words.

Ask: What am I embarrassed to talk with Jesus about?

“…Jesus asked his disciples, ‘What were you discussing out on the road?’ But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest.” Mark 9:33-34 (p.770)

“But Jesus knew their thoughts…” Luke 9:47a (p.791)

Ask: What is my attitude? Serve? Be served?

“He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, ‘Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.’” Mark 9:35 (p.770)

“Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, ‘If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.’” Mark 8:34 (p.769)

Jesus’ Example: Great leadership is defined by serving others, not using others.

“Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.” Mark 9:37 (p.770)

My Next Step This Week: I will serve my one this week freely without expecting or demanding anything in return.
