Luke 2:6-7
“And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.” Luke 2:6–7 (p.781)
- Jesus Was Born For My Everlasting Freedom.
Freedom is the state that emerges after God has acted to remove all hindrances that block our created purpose; to know, love, worship, and enjoy God forever.
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10 (p.819)
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36 (p.817)
- I Will Honor God As My Father.
“As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. ‘Joseph, son of David,’ the angel said, ‘do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.’” Matthew 1:20 (p.733)
2. I Am A Favored Child Of God.
“’Don’t be afraid, Mary,’ the angel told her, ‘for you have found favor with God!’” Luke 1:30 (p.779)
3. I Will Glorify God And Tell Others About Him.
“The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.” Luke 2:20 (p.781)
4. True Worship Acknowledges Jesus As King.
“Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:2 (p.734)
