Connect The Dots – Part 5: Baptism & Communion
Romans 6:3-8
“For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.” James 1:23–24 (p.931)
Baptism is an outward, public declaration of an inward, spiritual transformation in me.
“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism…now we also may live new lives.” Romans 6:4 (p.861)
Communion is a time to remember and celebrate the sacrifice Jesus made for me.
(Jesus) “I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you…Do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:15,19 (p.804)
- I Declare and Remember What Jesus Did For Me.
- Reflect on your baptism.
“Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?” Romans 6:3 (p.861)
“And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.” Galatians 3:27 (p.892)
- Take communion with intention.
“For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.” 1 Corinthians 11:26 (p.877)
“And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.” Romans 6:8 (p.861)
Series Memory Verse: “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, ‘You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”’ John 8:31-32 (p.817)
My Next Step This Week: Reflect on your baptism as a declaration of your new life in Christ, using this time to prepare your heart to take communion with intention next week.
