Keepers of the Kingdom – Part 5

Ephesians 6:17-18

Series Memory Verse: “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11 (p.898)

“…take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.” Ephesians 6:17b-18a (p.898)

  • We Carry The Word And The Spirit Carries The Power.

“For the word of God is alive and powerful…cutting between soul and spirit…joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12 (p.922)

The choice is this: Exhaustion and defeat in my strength vs. Victory in His strength.

“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.'” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (p.888)

“Then he said to me, ‘This is what the Lord says… It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.'”  Zechariah 4:6 (p.721)

How to “Take the Sword and Pray in the Spirit”

“But Jesus told him, ‘No! The Scriptures say…'” Matthew 4:4, 7, 10 (p.735)

Take the Sword:

  1. Fill your armory.
  2. Answer lies with truth.

Pray in the Spirit:

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness… the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.” Romans 8:26 (p.862)

   1. Let the Spirit help you.

   2. Pray short, pray often.

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (p.907)

My Next Step This Week: Memorize and carry Ephesians 3:16 with you every day.

“I pray that from his (Your) glorious, unlimited resources he (You) will empower you (Me) with inner strength through his (Your) Spirit.” Ephesians 3:16 (p.896)
