Purity is not just about avoiding sin—it’s about aligning every part of my life with God’s design.
Our Struggles: lust, selfness, and justification in our hearts.
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?” Jeremiah 17:9 (p.587)
Cultures Push: normalize impurity and mock God’s design.
“They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself…” Romans 1:25 (p.857)
Transformation Needed: courage to reject the world’s lies and embrace God’s truth.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think…” Romans 12:2 (p.866)
Risk:
Personal – Compromising purity damages your intimacy, integrity and relationship with God.
“Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 (p.873)
Others – Your choices impact your family, legacy and community.
“A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.” Proverbs 14:1 (p.490)
Steps to Build on Purity
- Understand God’s Design for Intimacy: Intimacy is a gift designed for marriage between a man and a woman.
“This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” Genesis 2:24 (p.4)
- Don’t Justify Impurity—RUN! Like Joseph, flee from situations that compromise your purity.
“Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace.” 2 Timothy 2:22 (p.915)
